Sewers and Water Jetting
Overview
Course for individuals who operate or supervise the operation of high-pressure water jetting equipment for cleaning drains, sewers, pipes, culverts, tanks, and manholes.
Course Content
The course covers:
- Identification of potential hazards.
- Setting up equipment with a focus on the safety of operators, other staff, and the public.
- Hands-on experience in using equipment effectively and safely.
- Immediate procedures to follow in the event of injury from water jet impact.
- Nozzle selection based on the correct application.
- Precautions to take when using a mains water supply.
- How to identify and establish a safe system of work when jetting, as required by the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
- Selection of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment in accordance with the P.P.E. Regulations 1992.
- Understanding the relevant Code of Practice.
Assessment
Day 1: Theory – Safety Awareness is taught in the classroom;
Day 2: Practical/Hands-On – The Drain & Sewer Module focuses on application skills.

Qualifications You Gain
On satisfactory completion of the course, an In House Certificate of Competence will be issued that will be valid for three years.
